'Ma Ben‘, mein chinesischer Name, ist ein bearbeitetes Tagebuchfragment, das in China entstanden ist. ‚Ma Ben‘ bedeutet das fliegende Pferd und verweist auf eine bronzene Verherrlichung des Pferdes aus Ferghana, dem Westen. Für die Chinesen lag dieser Westen weit jenseits ihres eigenen „Horizonts“, denn sie betrachteten sich selbst als das Zentrum der Welt. Im Hintergrund der Zeichnung erscheinen zwei gewaltige Füße – Fragmente des Buddha aus den Mogao-Grotten, dessen Verbreitung in China nicht zuletzt dem Pferd zu verdanken war.

'Ma Ben', my chinese name, is an adapted diary note made in China. 'n Ma Ben' means the flying horse and is a bronze glorification of the horses from the Ferghana, the west.
